We are using and creating technology to transform operations at sea to enable people and the planet to thrive.
We are open-minded and fearless in our approach to innovation and don't believe in boundaries. We challenge everything and have massive ambitions to drag aging industries into the tech era.
We take safety, equality and education very seriously, and our responsibilities don't stop at our front door. Our business is built on the belief that there's definitely a more environmentally responsible way to operate at sea.
We employ people who share our core values. We expect our people to be courageous, trustworthy, and conscientious, driven by a desire to do the right thing. We strive for excellence, work collaboratively, and are genuinely excited by our work.
We offer opportunities for our people to develop beyond their role and span a multitude of disciplines. These are open to all, regardless of background and experience level. Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry.
We are not your average workplace.
We are seeking a visionary and hands‑on Trust Security Architect to lead the design and deployment of Zero Trust security across a hybrid ecosystem spanning cloud, IT, and operational technology within maritime robotics and autonomous systems. This role will combine:
- Zero Trust architectural leadership (driving structured, end‑to‑end security design across cloud, edge, and embedded systems)
- Cross‑domain technical integration (working closely with robotics, software, systems engineering, operations, and security control teams)
- Risk‑based cyber‑physical assurance (ensuring autonomous platforms operate safely, compliantly, and resiliently against advanced threats)
You will ensure that complex, cyber‑physical autonomous systems are secured with clarity, structure, and control — maintaining alignment between engineering activity, operational constraints, regulatory requirements, and security assurance while proactively managing risk, dependencies, and system‑level resilience.
What you will be doing
- Lead Zero Trust architecture across cloud, IT, OT, and embedded robotic systems, defining trust boundaries, identity models, and secure communication patterns
- Design secure device identity and attestation frameworks for COTS and proprietary hardware, protecting command‑and‑control channels from spoofing and adversarial interference
- Develop secure, data‑centric architectures for maritime publisher‑subscriber networks (ROS, DDS Security), enabling micro‑segmentation, mixed‑criticality separation, and real‑time data validation
- Embed cyber‑resilience into autonomous decision‑making, validating sensor streams (AIS, RADAR, GNSS) and collaborating with autonomy and navigation teams to counter tampering and spoofing
- Align security architecture with engineering, operations, and defence governance, while acting as a senior authority for secure network design, long‑term security roadmaps, and continuous improvement across the organisation
Who you are
- Experienced in cyber‑physical and embedded security architecture, owning end‑to‑end security design across cloud, IT, and OT environments
- Deep expertise in Zero Trust, identity‑centric security, secure communications, and cryptographic trust frameworks for distributed and resource‑constrained systems
- Able to operate across mixed COTS and proprietary hardware/software ecosystems, securing high‑latency or intermittent networks such as satellite, mesh, and private 5G
- Clear, structured communicator with strong analytical, threat‑modelling, and problem‑solving skills, able to align technical and non‑technical stakeholders in safety‑critical environments
- Experienced collaborating with robotics, autonomy, OT/SCADA, or other high‑assurance domains, familiar with secure coding for embedded systems (C/C++, Rust, Python, Go) and holding UK SC clearance with DV eligibility
Desirable
- Experience with autonomous systems, unmanned vehicles, or maritime robotics
- Familiarity with maritime cyber regulations, class‑society requirements, and defence assurance frameworks
- Knowledge of hardware security modules, PKI for constrained devices, and machine‑to‑machine identity management
- Experience designing secure architectures for sensor‑fusion, navigation, or mission‑critical control systems
- Understanding of satellite communications security, GNSS/GPS spoofing mitigation, and resilient command‑and‑control architectures
Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
