Description
Adanola is seeking an experienced Management Accountant for a permanent role within the Finance team, with main responsibility of accurate and timely reporting across the trading entities and consolidation.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience preparing full management accounts, strong Excel skills, and a track record of managing multi-currency, multi-entity reporting. They will work closely with the AP, AR and wider Finance team to ensure a smooth month-end close, and will play a key role in strengthening processes and controls as the business continues to grow.
The role also carries line management responsibility for an Assistant Management Accountant, supporting their development and reviewing their work.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts and Consolidation
- Own the preparation of full monthly management accounts pack (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) for the group, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, and oversee accruals and prepayments, ensuring a complete and accurate audit trail.
- Oversee all accounting estimates, including but not limited to: landed cost, stock provision and loyalty scheme
- Ensure all revenue and cost lines are correctly accounted for and reconciled to source data each month.
- Ensure the consolidated position reconciles fully to the individual entity accounts.
- Monthly reporting for finance and the wider business including profit margins and spend analysis, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout
Month-End Close
- Deliver a smooth, on-time month-end close, coordinating with the AP and AR teams so that department tasks and deadlines are clearly understood.
- Maintain and continuously improve the month-end timetable
- Provide variance analysis with clear commentary on movements against budget.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Provide variance analysis to budget on all lines of P&L and Balance sheet above the defined thresholds, with clear commentary on the drivers of variance and the implications to forecasts.
- Support revenue and margin analysis across territories and help develop reporting solutions that make variance analysis easy to produce and digest each month.
- Contribute financial insight and recommendations to support senior management decision-making.
Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare and submit tax returns in the UK and international, adhering to the country deadlines, maintaining a full record of submissions.
- Maintain a complete audit trail for all financial transactions and journals, and provide support for external audit requests.
- Review the tax treatment of transactions in line with HMRC guidelines
- Oversee asset verification process and maintain an accurate, up-to-date fixed asset register.
Other responsibilities
- Continuously review and implement process efficiencies or control improvement as required.
- Maintain SOPs for management accounts processes and maintain and update key accounting policy documents
- Act as line manager for the Assistant Management Accountant, providing day-to-day leadership, support and direction.
- Act as a point of contact for AP, AR, and wider business on management accounts queries, providing timely and accurate support.
- Support wider Finance projects and ad hoc analysis as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Demonstrable experience preparing full management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) for multiple entities.
- Experience with multi-currency consolidation
- Strong Excel skills, with experience maintaining complex reconciliations and accrual schedules.
- Experience preparing or supporting VAT, GST or international sales tax returns.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across AP, AR and wider business.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to reconciliations and audit trail.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or line managing a junior team member, with the ability to review work and give constructive feedback.
Desirable
- Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
- Experience in an online retail or e-commerce environment.
- Previous formal line management experience.
