An opportunity has risen within their IT department to hire an IT Apprentice. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step get their first step in their IT career.
Responsibilities:
Provide basic assistance to staff and pupils with straightforward IT queries and issues
Support users with common technology and software queries, seeking assistance where an issue is beyond their level of knowledge or experience
Assist with the setup and preparation of computers, laptops, tablets, printers and other IT equipment
Assist staff and pupils with straightforward connectivity, login and access issues
Log and record IT issues accurately in accordance with the Academy's procedures
Work alongside the IT Operations Manager and other Academy colleagues to support the effective day-to-day use of technology
Skills and knowledge required:
National 5 qualifications in English and Maths, or equivalent
A genuine interest in computers, technology and how things work and experience of using computers beyond normal day to day use
Able to communicate clearly, politely and patiently with a wide range of people
Experience of helping family, friends or colleagues with basic technology or IT problems
Friendly and approachable when helping others
A logical, practical and methodical approach to solving problems
An understanding of the importance of excellent customer service
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and information security when dealing with information relating to pupils, staff and the Academy
Some experience of troubleshooting basic technical problems or learning new software independently and interest in areas such as networking, cybersecurity, hardware, cloud technology or software development
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 or other commonly used applications
Working week: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm

They talk you through the specifics on the qualifications you gain and how they align in particular to your day to day role.
On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6.
