🧩 Key Responsibilities
As a Children's Support Worker / Residential Support Worker, you will:
• Deliver high-quality trauma-informed care and therapeutic support
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
• Support young people with emotional wellbeing, mental health, and personal development
• Promote safeguarding and welfare at all times
• Act as a Key Worker and advocate for young people
• Support education, homework, appointments, and recreational activities
• Encourage independent living skills, social skills, and positive routines
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using approved strategies
• Complete accurate records, reports, and care documentation
• Transport young people to school, family contact, appointments, and activities
• Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, education providers, and healthcare professionals
✅ Essential Requirements
• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals (paid, voluntary, residential care, youth work, education, mentoring, fostering, family support, SEN or mental health settings)
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Emotional resilience, empathy, patience, and professionalism
• Flexible approach to shift work, including days, evenings, weekends, waking nights, and sleep-ins where required
• Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
🎓 Desirable Qualifications & Experience
• NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care
• Level 3 Children and Young People's Workforce Qualification
• Health and Social Care Qualification
• Experience supporting children with EBD, SEMH, ADHD, Autism, Attachment Difficulties, Trauma, or Complex Needs
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Ofsted standards
• Experience within children's homes, residential care, supported accommodation, youth offending services, education, fostering, or family intervention services
