About this Role
We currently have a permanent role working 16.25 hours (16 hours and 15 minutes) per week, working Monday to Friday 10.00 am to 1.15 pm 40 weeks per year, based at Springwell Leeds Academy South, Middleton Road, Leeds LS10 3JA.
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at Wellspring Academy Trust. In this role, you will support the Catering Lead in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our pupils, ensuring every child receives wholesome, delicious meals in a safe, welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, cooking, and service of appetising and nutritious meals to a high standard.
- Prepare the dining area for service and maintain high levels of cleanliness across kitchen, dining, and associated areas.
- Carry out washing up and general kitchen duties as required.
- Support the Catering Lead with tasks such as menu costing, recipe development, stock control, and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure catering equipment is used and maintained safely.
- Identify and report any faults or safety concerns.
- Promote the efficient use of gas, electricity, and water to minimise costs and environmental impact.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
- Share catering knowledge and skills with colleagues to help improve the service.
- Follow all relevant legislation and Trust policies, including health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Use catering IT systems effectively to support service delivery and data recording.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff through excellent communication and empathy.
- Work with integrity and demonstrate commitment to Trust values, ensuring high quality is delivered “every serve, first time”.
- Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, including supporting the transport of catering provisions if required.
