Department: Hospitality, Catering and Bakery
Salary: £15.60 per hour
Job type: Temporary, up to 24 hours per week
To provide excellent technical support to staff and students within the Hospitality, Catering and Bakery department and when required other areas within the School of Hospitality, Sport and Travel. Manage the food stores area within the department and order catering supplies, storage of supplies and distribution of supplies to support students to have a positive college experience.
Health and safety is paramount within the school, you will be instrumental in providing a realistic working environment that replicates industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Utilise specialist knowledge of the area of work to support an effective, user-friendly and professional service
- Provide general support for the teaching of students in the area
- Set up and operate the food stores area for the department for the Hospitality, Catering and Bakery department, order food supplies, storage and allocation of food commodities for practical lessons and the RWE areas.
- Demonstrate a range of complex skills and equipment to staff / students and instruct them on the safe use of equipment and techniques
- Establishes systems to ensure accurate records of maintenance are kept
- Establishes systems to ensure accurate records of H&S are kept
- Establish systems to ensure accurate Food safety records are kept
- Comply with internal and external health and safety guidelines, instructions and regulations
- Ensure workshop and associated areas are maintained, and in a clean and tidy manner
- Ensure high levels of customer service promoting a positive image of the College. Including participating in open evenings and interview evenings
- Comply with set quality standards and procedural instructions
- Help to ensure through good working practices that the objectives, values and aims of the school and the college are achieved on time
- Supervise staff as required. This will include allocating tasks, ensuring accurate completion of tasks and monitoring performance
- Train staff at a lower level in particular areas of expertise and/or specialist knowledge
- Assist with training of other groups of staff with regard to a particular area of expertise and/or specialist knowledge.
- Undertake risk assessments to ensure risks are understood and mitigated
- Resolve problems and issues, diagnose faults and respond to complaints or queries, where appropriate refer on to the appropriate person
- Attend/arrange meetings as requested to support the work activities
- Assist with budget and resource management
- Monitor levels of stocks and consumables/basic equipment when required to do so order replacements acting within procurement policies
- Where it is identified as necessary handle cash or cash equivalents
- Comply with college security, stock control, cash-handling procedures, standards and audit requirements
- Comply with financial regulations within own area of work

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Relevant sector practical experience and trade skills.
- Experience of maintaining trade equipment & tools
- Experience in the effective use of Microsoft Office applications and / or other computer packages including Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
- Relevant maintenance knowledge within domestic, commercial and industrial applications.
- Good practical skills and the ability to demonstrate to others
- 2 years prior industry/college experience of pipe trades
- Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently using your own initiative.
- Strong customer focus and communication skills.
- Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, transparency and commitment to/ownership of the mission & values of the College.
